The start of a new week was also an opportunity to do some research and networking down in ‘the big smoke’. Accompanied by the Baltzersen’s Food Service Consultant (AKA my Dad) we headed to London’s docklands and the Excel exhibition centre for Hotelympia, a trade show for food service and hospitality.
Prior to the exhibition we decided to visit a couple of Scandi cafes in town, to try them out and see how they do it down south. We visited Scandinavian Kitchen in Great Titchfield Street and then walked over to Nordic Bakery on Golden Square and tried the cinnamon buns in both.
Hotelympia is a large show that offers all sorts of exhibitors including catering equipment, food producers, commercial furniture, food packaging, EPOS systems and much more. There were a couple of celebrity chef/baker spots including Jason Atherton and Paul Hollywood both doing demonstration slots for equipment companies.
It may be a sad indictment (of me!) to say that the best items I saw were these fantastic tactile Spanish designed chairs by Eurosilla available soon from contract furniture suppliers Ultimate Contract Ltd.
