For the few of you who may be unaware of La Feria, it is a Spanish tapas and rotisserie restaurant in Harrogate. Recently, the well-established restaurant moved location, just around the corner from it’s original site. The new spot is on Cold Bath Road set further back from the road with a lovely huge garden and outside seating area.
On Thursday last week La Feria hosted an opening party for friends of the restaurant to celebrate – I took one of our baristas Nina along to join in the fun.
As we arrived we were greeted with a glass of sangria (yum!), while others sipped on champagne and wine. We were welcomed to take a look around both the bar area and restaurant, which were both stunning.
The decoration is classically Spanish throughout. A mix of old and new come together to create a very beautiful restaurant. There seemed to be a great deal of attention to detail in the ornamentation of our surroundings.
The bar boasts a number of different wines, sherries and other spirits, many originating from Spain. There are also a range of cocktails on offer, as well as a few different Spanish beers and ciders available on draught or in bottles.
After admiring the bar area, we walked through to the main area of the restaurant. This area was dimly lit with candles – it was easy to see the time and effort which had gone into making the place look warm and welcoming.
Here, there were different tapas and bar snacks for the guests to try, including different meats, cheeses, olives and the most delicious toasted almonds spiced with paprika, chilli and cumin.
We took a seat outside in the extensive seating area in the garden out the front to study the menu. As more and more people arrived, it was easy to see how La Feria’s garden will soon become THE place to go for a drink in the summer months in Harrogate (providing the weather improves).
Every detail of the restaurant displayed authenticity and passion for Spanish food and lifestyle. The extensive bar menu and the option to have either just a drink, bar snacks or a full meal will attract many people to the restaurant and it’s garden. We were definitely left hungry for more once we had finished reading the menu.
All in all, it was a lovely evening to celebrate the current and future success of La Feria, proving yet again just how many great independents that Harrogate has to offer.
